By: Sadaf Ali, MA, CCC-SLP, VP for Member Engagement
As I begin my term as the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Vice President for Member Engagement, I am working hard to keep TSHA members, non-members, other professionals, students, and the public at large updated on all important information regarding speech-language pathology and audiology.
Over the past couple of years, we have worked hard to increase our reach to our members via social media. The Social Media Committee works hard to post important information on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. We hope to continue to grow our social media following and highlight more of the incredible work our members are doing in the field as well as the pertinent information that affects our fields daily.
This year, our Membership Committee and May Is Better Hearing and Speech Month (MBHSM) Committee have combined efforts to work on bringing excellent content and programming of interest for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and audiologists throughout the state of Texas.
At the TSHA 2023 Convention in Austin, our Diversity Committee put on a forum during which they addressed the ongoing challenges related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology. We look forward to putting out more information regarding their work soon.
Our dedicated team of volunteers have worked hard to keep TSHA members and non-members up-to-date on all of the ongoing concerns and updates in our fields. The following volunteers have worked hard to assist me as the Vice President of Member Engagement this year.
Councilor: Melissa Liska
Social Media Committee Co-Chairs: Jennifer Guzman and Amanda Weissberg
Membership/May Is Better Hearing and Speech Month (MBHSM) Committee Chair: Jana Parker
Diversity Committee Co-Chairs: Adanna Burrell and Liz Surita
