The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA) Convention Programing Committee, under the leadership of Vice President for Educational and Scientific Affairs Diane Longnecker, is working hard to finish final preparation for the TSHA 2025 Convention. They have prepared a creative assortment of educational programs, invited speakers, and opportunities to network with other professionals, colleagues, and friends.
Among the highlights is an opening reception on Thursday, May 1, at 4:30 p.m. in the exhibit hall. This party, hosted by the exhibitors, provides an opportunity to join friends and colleagues for a Fiesta-style celebration. Join in to kick off Convention with drinks, snacks, and a mariachi band. Throughout Convention, the exhibit hall is a great place to run into friends and colleagues while browsing the booths displaying educational materials, books, equipment, and other products of interest to speech-language pathologists and audiologists. Potential employers also have booths to showcase their companies and school districts in hopes of interacting with professionals who may be interested in employment. Refreshment breaks between continuing education sessions provide additional opportunities for browsing and interacting with other professionals. Many exhibitors offer free giveaways, candy, and contests to win free products to attendees who stop by their booths. A new feature this year is a vendor demonstration opportunity, which will allow attendees to try out products and equipment.
Don’t miss the opening general session, “Celebrating the Present, Shaping the Future,” and hear from TSHA’s keynote speaker, Kia Noelle Johnson, PhD, CCC-SLP, as she discusses achievements of the state association that enlighten, empower, and inspire local speech, language, and hearing professionals. Learn to be the professional who has a lasting impact on our association, the professions, and the lives of those we serve.
The Job Placement Center is returning to Convention this year. If you are on the job hunt, you can review a list of job openings, upload your resume online so prospective employers can review your experiences, and arrange a time to meet with them at Convention. If you have registered for Convention, you will be receiving more information about the Job Placement Center soon.
Continuing education is a major focus of Convention. Programs will be presented on a wide variety of topics each day. Check out the details of the educational programming, and be sure to take a look at the Master Classes available each day that provide an opportunity to learn from nationally recognized invited speakers providing advanced-level content.
And, of course, San Antonio is one of the best cities in Texas to have fun with friends and colleagues. We can’t wait to see you on May 1-3. Register for Convention today!
