The Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (TSHF) is excited to announce a new fund honoring military personnel and veterans. The Judson Erik Mount Memorial Fund was established in loving memory of Judson Erik Mount, Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army, who gave his life in 2009 in service to his country.
The fund was established with love by his parents Jim and Marva Mount. Marva is a speech-language pathologist and member of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA). Judson is also survived by his wife, Jennifer; his two daughters, Shelby and Sydney; and his brother, Joey. This award will be given to a speech-language pathologist or audiologist who is providing services to veterans of the U.S. military forces (i.e., Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, National Guard) or to a speech-language pathologist or audiologist who is currently serving in the military.
The funds may be used to re-pay educational loans and/or to support a project related to the applicant’s service to veterans. Any American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)-certified speech-language pathologist or audiologist or American Academy of Audiology (AAA)-certified audiologist practicing in the state of Texas may apply or be nominated for the award. Once the fund is fully endowed at $20,000, the award will be given yearly at the TSHF annual event (held in conjunction with the TSHA Convention). Donations to help endow the Judson Erik Mount Memorial Fund may be made at “Service: Judson Erik Mount Memorial: Military” at https://tshfoundation.salsalabs.org/oceansmultistepeoy/index.html.
