TSHA’s Top 10 Accomplishments of 2024

There’s so much to be proud of this year at the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (TSHA)! Here are the top 10 accomplishments of our TSHA community this year.

  1. TSHA 68th Annual Convention and Exhibition. Held in Fort Worth, the TSHA 2024 Convention featured more than 130 presentations and posters and 160 exhibitors and brought together more than 2,760 speech-language pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, and students.
  2. Free Expert-Led Education. Members earned up to 10 CEs from 10 complimentary Webinar Wednesday presentations. The most popular webinar was Narrative Samples: From Analysis to IEP Development presented on September 4, 2024.
  3. Texas Interstate Compact Coalition. TSHA joined forces with physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and more healthcare professionals across Texas to amplify our impact on passing compact legislation, including the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Compact Bill.
  4. A Focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). TSHA released our DEIB Statement to underscore our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. Interested in furthering your learning of DEIB? Check out these curated resources form the TSHA Diversity Committee.
  5. New Member Communications. We introduced several new all-member emails to keep members informed and engaged.

Advocacy Brief: This monthly digest keeps shares the latest advocacy news from the legislative team, ASHA Liaisons (STAR, StAMP, SEAL), TSHA Political Advisory Committee (PAC), and more!

Education Digest: This monthly communication brings the latest TSHA educational offerings front and center for our members.

Research Digest: Need help getting more survey responses? TSHA can help! We offer a digest email to share student and member research studies with the TSHA membership at a highly discounted rate! Check it out.

  1. Advanced Webinars. The new Advanced Professional Development webinar series, launched in 2024, provides experienced members with access to advanced CE and specialty CE content at a discounted rate.
  2. Disability Determination Guidelines. The Continuation of Guidelines Committee is hard at work continuing to revise and update our Disability Determination Guidelines. Check out the latest resources for Language for Cultural and Linguistically Diverse Students
  3. Honors and Awards. This year, TSHA introduced new awards including a Rising Star Award and Executive Council Member of the Year Award. We also recognized the amazing accomplishments of:

  1. Spreading the Word on College Campuses. TSHA Graduate Student Representatives and Executive Board members conducted outreach to more than 300 National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSHLA) students at more than 17 universities, sharing information about TSHA and the professions.
  2. Audiology Student Research Symposium. Audiology students showed off their research at the TSHA 2024 Convention. Congrats to our prize winner, Jenna Cramer!
